Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
Q: What is Parent Form Filler? A: Parent Form Filler is a browser extension that automatically fills out forms using your family’s saved information. Instead of typing the same details repeatedly on school forms, doctor visits, and sports registrations, it does it instantly with just a few clicks.
Q: What do I need to get started? A: You need a Chrome browser (or similar Chromium-based browser) and 5-10 minutes to set up your family profiles. The extension works with both websites and PDF documents.
Q: How do I install the extension? A: Download and install the Parent Form Filler extension, look for the new icon in your browser toolbar, then click it to start setup. You will be asked to sign up to access the AI features.
Setup and Configuration
Q: What are the security options during setup? A: You can choose between Quick Setup (easy access, no master password) or Secure Setup (extra protection with a master password, which is recommended). The master password encrypts all your family’s information.
Q: Why do I need to select my location? A: Selecting your geographic region (USA, Canada, UK, Australia, etc.) helps the extension recognize form fields that are formatted differently in different countries.
Q: What information can I store for each family member? A: For each family member, you can add:
- Basic Info: Full name, date of birth, gender
- Contact: Phone numbers, email address, home address
- Medical: Doctor information, allergies, medications, insurance
- Emergency Contacts: Names and phone numbers
- Other: Employment details (for adults), school information
Q: Do I have to fill in all the information at once? A: No, you can add what you need initially and come back later to add more details. The extension gets more useful as you complete more information.
Using the Extension
Q: How do I fill out web forms? A:
- Navigate to any webpage with a form.
- Click the extension icon in your browser toolbar.
- Choose which family member you’re filling the form for.
- Click “Analyze & Fill Form.”
- Review the field matching.
- Click “Fill Form” to automatically populate all fields.
- Double-check the information and submit as normal.
Q: Can this fill PDF documents? A: Yes! Open a PDF form in your browser, and it will be displayed in a new tab or window. Click the extension icon (it automatically detects PDFs), select the family member, click “Analyze PDF,” review and fill, then download or print the completed PDF. Note: To fill PDFs from a local file, you must enable “Allow access to file URLs” in the extension’s settings.
Q: What is field matching and how does it work? A: The extension intelligently matches your stored information to form fields, even when they have different names. For example, “First Name” and “Child’s First Name” both get filled with the same information. It shows you a confidence percentage and lets you manually adjust any field that doesn’t look right.
Managing Family Information
Q: How do I add a new child to the system? A: Click the extension icon, go to settings or “Edit Data,” add a new profile, fill in their information, and save the profile.
Q: How do I update existing information? A: Click the extension icon, go to “Edit Data,” select the family member to update, make your changes, and save.
Q: Can I change my master password? A: Yes, click the extension icon, go to settings, look for “Change Master Password,” and follow the prompts.
Troubleshooting
Q: What if the extension doesn’t detect a form? A: Make sure the webpage has loaded completely, try refreshing the page. Some forms might not be compatible and you’ll need to fill them manually.
Q: What if wrong information gets filled in? A: Always review the field matching before clicking “Fill Form.” You can manually change any field that doesn’t look right, and update your stored information if it’s outdated.
Q: What if a PDF won’t fill? A: Some PDFs aren’t fillable electronically and you’ll need to print and fill by hand. Make sure you have permission to edit the PDF, or try downloading it first then opening it.
Q: What if I forgot my master password? A: Unfortunately, if you forget your master password, you’ll need to start over. Your information is encrypted and can’t be recovered without the password - this is by design to keep your family’s information secure.
Q: What if the extension stops working? A: Try refreshing the webpage, check that the extension is enabled in your browser settings, log out and log back in, or contact support if problems persist.
Pricing and Referrals
Q: Is the service free? A: We offer initial free usage, but a full subscription is required for continued use. Due to the real costs associated with the AI processing functions, we can’t provide the entire service for free. Our plans are affordable, costing roughly the price of a coffee a month. Please see the pricing page for details.
Q: Is there a referral program? A: Yes! You can find a referral link in the extension’s settings or on your user account page at [suspicious link removed]. Share this link, and for every 10 people who sign up for the service, you’ll receive 6 months of free usage.
Privacy and Security
Q: Is my family’s information safe? A: Yes, all your family information is stored locally on your computer, not on company servers. Nothing is shared or sold to other companies, and your data is encrypted using industry-standard security.
Q: How does the extension keep information secure? A: Through master password protection (if chosen), automatic locking after 15 minutes of inactivity, encrypted storage that only you can access, and no tracking of your Browse or form-filling activities.
Q: What are the best security practices? A: Use a strong master password if you choose secure setup, keep your family information up to date, log out when using shared computers, and only install the extension from trusted sources.
Compatibility and Features
Q: What types of forms does this work with? A: Most web forms and many PDF documents. It works great for school forms, medical intake forms, registration forms, and government applications.
Q: Can I use this for multiple children? A: Yes! You can create separate profiles for each family member and choose which one to use for each form.
Q: What if a form has a field I haven’t filled out in my profile? A: The extension will skip fields it doesn’t have information for. You can fill those in manually.
Q: Does ParentFormFiller work on Safari? A: Safari support is in development. Join the waitlist and you’ll be first to know when the Mac and iOS web extension launches.

Q: Can I use it without Chrome? A: Today’s release is Chrome-only, but Firefox, Safari and mobile versions are in progress. Add yourself to the early-access list and we’ll contact you as soon as your platform is ready.
Q: Does this work on mobile devices? A: Currently, this extension works on desktop browsers only.
Q: What happens if I uninstall the extension? A: All your stored information is removed when you uninstall. Make sure to export your data first if you want to keep it.
Support
Q: Where can I get additional help? A: Check the extension’s settings for additional options, look for a “Help” or “Support” link in the extension, or contact the support team through official channels.
Q: Any final tips for getting the most out of Parent Form Filler? A: Start with basic information and add more details over time as needed. The extension becomes more useful the more complete your family profiles are. Remember that you can fill most forms in seconds instead of minutes once everything is set up!
